In retaliation for the downing of the Su-24 jet, Russia has deployed the S400 system to their airbase in Latakia. Its range covers 90% of Syria, 60% of Israel and 30% of Turkey. The Ministry of Defence made sure that its presence was felt by releasing videos showing the system being towed off the plane and moved into place. Sadly, for the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), this momentous occasion has sparked some symptoms of hyper-denial.
